BIO
Maria Sparre-Petersen is an artist, researcher, lecturer and teacher, currently employed at The Royal Danish Academy and also running her own business as an independant artist.
As a graduate from Rhode Island School of Design in 2000 Sparre-Petersen initially set up her business in New York City, while her Danish roots later led her back to Copenhagen where she completed her PhD about glass and sustainability in 2017.
In recent years her work has taken the formats of installations, sculptural objects and interactive collaborations in public spaces, often incorporating extensive experimentation with robottics, 3D printing and concepts of failure and imperfection.
She has received numerous grants and honourable mentions and has exhibited internationally since 1996.
